Plan Toys

Why We Love Them:
We love their bright, colourful and creative toys and we love that Plan Toys takes great effort to ensure thier products are not only well made, but made responsibly and sustainably.

The Materials They Use:

Organic Rubberwood from trees which no longer produce latex. To keep the rubber wood pure, no fertilizer is added to the soil for three years before the trees are cut. To strengthen the wood, PlanToysŪ uses a special chemical-free kiln drying process.

Non-Toxic E-Zero Glue a proprietary, non-formaldehyde E-Zero glue.

Water Based Dye with no heavy metals.

Soy & Water-based Ink on their printed materials. These inks are more readily biodegradable and can be recycled more efficiently than standard chemical ink. A ,link to their regular paint tests can be found here.

Recycled and Recyclable Material to minimize our impact on the environment.

Where They Make Their Products:

Thier operations use solar energy and low emission biofuels to power the machinery that kiln dries the wood and the finished toys.
PlanToys is also actively engaged in the development of alternative renewable energy sources. We are now using biomass to produce heat. Wood scraps and wood chips left over from manufacturing toys are burned as fuel for the kiln drying process instead of using chemical preservatives. Biomass is also used in the curing and plywood moulding process. This form of energy helps reduce electricity usage and waste. Plan Toys will soon be using a Biomass Steam Turbine Generator, which is currently in the development phase.

Their operations and factories have acquired and maintained the following third party business operation certifications:
Environmental Management (ISO 14001) : Confirming their to environmental awareness both locally and globally.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Mgt (OHSAS 18001): Provides a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Social Accountability Management (SA 8000): Enhances employees' quality of life by providing full and equal opportunity to all workers.
  • As well as ISO 9001 and ASTM & EN71, Toy Safety Standards

From The Manufacturer:
PlanToysŪ engages in programs that balance the need for improving the quality of life and preserving our environment. We are committed to minimizing our impact on nature.

We create toys that inspire children's imagination as well as promote their physical and intellectual development. We're also proving that it is possible to maintain superior quality standards while steadfastly following a path of environmental and social responsibility.

PlanToys practices the "Three R's" of green living: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Our manufacturing processes are designed to reduce waste and save energy. We reuse materials, and have introduced innovative methods to recycle paper and other products. We are always looking for new ways to improve and preserve our environment.

PlanToys is the first company to manufacture toys using wood from rubber trees that no longer provide latex. The trees grow to heights of 50 feet or more. The sap from the rubberwood is an eco-friendly, sustainable, high quality wood. The paper used in our packaging is recyclable which further reduces waste and our plants use state of the art solar energy. Our plants use state of the art solar energy and biomass (fuel from biodegradable organic material).

We initiated a work-generating plan which has significantly increased the local standard of living. We provide opportunities for those with disabilities to work in our company.

As part of our commitment to children's education and development, we have founded a community learning center and The Children's Toy Museum. We regularly sponsor many enrichment programs for children through our PlanNeramit Project. This helps to foster a love of learning outside the classroom. Every activity mirrors our global commitment to creating a better society, improving the quality of life, and respecting our environment.
